Discharge time is 10:00 am for patients that have stayed overnight

We ask that you respect this time so that we are able to accommodate other patients awaiting surgery or treatment. Before you are discharged you will be provided with information relating to your medications, appointments and discharge instructions as appropriate.

Prior to your admission, consider planning for your return home. Areas to consider include personal care, home safety, equipment needs, meal preparation, shopping and domestic help. Where possible, it is important to make plans with your family or carer before you come into hospital.

Discharge Medications

The pharmacist will review your medications with you. Discharge medications can be collected from the Pharmacy on your way home.

Medical / Carer’s Certificate

If you require a medical certificate, please inform your treating doctor prior to leaving the hospital. If your carer requires a certificate, please inform the Nurse in Charge.

Day Surgery

It is important to have a responsible adult to collect you following your procedure and stay with you overnight. Your doctor may cancel your procedure if you don’t have anyone to accompany you home. Certain anaesthetics cause drowsiness so it is important that you do not drive for 24 hours after surgery
